Creating Futures/Standing in the Gap in the near future is going to have a Bible Study covering the Biblical Principles found in the book The Awe of God by John Bevere. We believe one of the reasons for all the drama in Fairfield Bay and in America is the lack of an Awe of God. Sadly, even Christians do not have a full understanding of the holiness of God. What would happen in our communities and nations if we all operated out of an Awe of God.

Awe of God/Fear of God

If you truly love God, you will be in awe of God. You will have a holy fear of God. I beg of you, do not let the phrase fear of God turn you away. Living a life in awe of God, the fear of the Lord, will absolutely transform you, you will live a life that gives glory to God, you will be a vessel of honor for the kingdom of God. Those around you will be affected by the changes that take place in you.

What If’s

In the book John Bevere shares the What If’s:
What If the Fear of God is a virtue? What if the Fear of God is reflective of an authentic relationship with God? What if the Fear of God leads us to walk in the fullness God has for us? What if the Fear of God eradicates all other fear?

Definitions/Characteristics of the Fear of God

What is the Fear of God?
To hallow, to esteem, respect, honor. venerate, adore, to take on God’s heart, love what God loves, hate what God hates. To hate sin. To hate injustice. To depart from evil. Walk in humility and praise God.

Lack of Fear of God

When there is the lack of fear of God, there is no Awe of God, individuals walk in sin, blatant sin at times, even Christians. Our culture becomes more distant from God, and ungodly behavior becomes acceptable.

The end result is much of what we see take place in social media. Christians by their words reflecting more of the character of Satan instead of Christ.

Our Responsibility

We have no control over the words, actions, behavior of others. We can speak truth and confront ungodly behavior,. but we must first make sure we are living a life that honors God. The book, The Awe of God helps us to have a clearer understanding of who God is and will challenge us to live a life of ongoing sanctification.

Instead of speaking words of hate we spoke words of life? Instead of self-centered, other-centered? Instead of unholy alliances we aligned up with the Holy Spirit? Instead of sowing division we sowed unity? Let's be people who are known for living a lifestyle of holiness.
