True Salvation

Many Americans claim to be American Christians, especially in the Bible Belt, claim to know Jesus as their lifestyle, but their behavior and actions reflects something much different. There is a difference between Jesus being Savior and Jesus being LORD and Savior. There is a big difference between being a fan of Jesus and being a follower of Jesus.

If you are just a fan of Jesus, if Jesus is your Savior but not the Lord of lords of your life, you most likely not born again, not saved, do not have eternal life. The Bible speaks about this:
2 Timothy 3:1-5
But understand this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed to what is good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, loving pleasure rather than loving God. 5 They will maintain the outward appearance of religion but will have repudiated its power. So avoid people like these.
Sadly there are those who claim to be Christians that do not even maintain the outward appearance of religion.

Seven Indicators of True Salvation
Indicator 1: A lifestyle of obedience to God.
Indicator 2: A confession of Jesus as the Christ, God’s Son.
Indicator 3; A lifestyle of repentance of sin
Indicator 4: Genuine love for other believers
Indicator 5: The discipline of God your Father
Indicator 6: The presence of God’s Holy Spirit.
Indicator 7: Faith in Jesus alone for salvation

If you do not have the above indicators in your life you most likely are not Born Again, and thus do not have eternal life. Maybe it is time for you to confess that Jesus is your Lord and believe that he died for your sins and rose from the grave to conquer sin and death.

Romans 10:8-10
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we preach), 9 because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation.
Confess in the Greek means to say the same thing, to exclaim
Believe in the Greek means to entrust, to rely upon, persuaded
So Romans 9 should be read as because if you exclaim, come into agreement with Jesus as Lord of your life and if you are persuaded and rely upon God raised Jesus from the dead you will be saved.

If Jesus has not been your Lord & Savior how about praying a prayer similar to this one:
Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against You and deserve the judgment of God. I believe that You died on the cross to pay for my sins. I chose now to turn away from my sins (I know I cannot do this on my own, but give me the desire) and ask for Your forgiveness. Jesus, I believe you rose from the grave so I can have eternal life. Jesus, I’m making You the Lord and Boss of my life. Change me and help me now to live the rest of my life for You. Thank you for giving me a home in heaven with You when I die. Amen.
