This article it is going to address the fact that there are individuals that manifest some extremely ungodly behavior and it appears various leaders have no problem making alliances with such people. When this is called out, instead of repentance there are attacks. This is happening throughout America.
Alliances
Alliances-a union or association formed for mutual benefit, especially between countries or organizations. Alliances in themselves are not wrong. It is wise to make alliances if a person or organization wants to accomplish certain goals and needs to the help of others. In the midst of alliances there are certainly times we do not know the heart, motives, personal goals of those whom we have made alliances with at some point in time. We are not held accountable or what we do not know.
Unholy Behavior
You would think most people would agree what is unholy behavior, yet many rationalize, justify, or excuse unholy/ungodly behavior. The behavior is unholy/ungodly rather a person believes in a god or not. The behavior is unholy/ungodly because it harms others, many times it is not based upon truth but emotions, it creates unhealthy division, the motives behind the behavior are ulterior and self-serving.
I include the phrase ungodly because there are those who claim to be Christ Followers that manifest behavior that clearly is not behavior that should be manifested by a Christian.
Some examples of unholy/ungodly behavior: sinful anger (manifested much different than righteous anger), spewing poisonous words/cursing, manifesting blatant hatred, false accusations insinuations and assumptions based upon rumors or not all the facts, betrayal-violating trust that was between two people, spite, bitterness, unforgiveness, showing total disrespect, vindictiveness, pure hatred, threatening, lack of compassion or empathy, breeding disunity and division, pride/narcissism. Individuals that manifest this type of behavior usually demand others to align with them, and if you do not, they will come after you.
All of the behavior listed above is clearly evil, certainly not of God.
Individuals who manifest the above behavior are individuals that cannot be trusted. They are individuals you certainly should not want to make any alliances with them.
Unholy Alliances
So what are Unholy Alliances? Alliances made with individuals who have a lifestyle/behavior that manifests in an unholy, ungodly, evil manner. Alliances in the sense that these individuals are seen as supporters or advisors for your cause, they are placed in leadership positions with your organization. Unholy alliances are alliances where the unholy/ungodly behavior of individuals is not challenged, confronted, or called out. Unholy alliances is when they evil actions are excused, justified, defended.
Unholy Alliances many times are kept in the dark, secretive alliances. Unholy alliances breed an US vs THEM mentality.
Unequally Yoked
If a person is a Christian and yoked with ungodly, evil individuals they are making that person more important than obeying the Word of God. We as Christians are not to be unequally yoked with individuals.
2 Corinthians 6:14
Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?
Balance
We are not responsible for the behavior of others, just like they are not responsible for our behavior. The truth is we all fall short, we all make poor judgment at times. If we looked to have alliances with perfect people we would not be any kind of relationship with others. None of us know the heart of a person, only God knows the heart of a person. Only God knows the deep motives and secrets of a person. Thus, it is not up to us to try and figure out why a person may have an 'unholy alliance' with someone. But we certainly should be cautious.
One of the problems with unholy alliances is that there is a mindset that you must be in total agreement with alliance or you support the 'evil side'. Balance says I can support the good policies of a leader and disagree with their supporters or have problems with their unholy alliances.
What Should We Do?
Make sure that at the end of the day we have an alliance with the God of the Universe and His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will give us wisdom as to whom we should trust or not trust. If a person we have trusted proves to be untrustworthy we should disassociate from them if they will not repent.
Pray
Pray that God will deal with those who have unholy alliances and they will repent. Pray for God to expose evil. Pray that what is hidden in the dark is exposed. Pray that God will expose ulterior motives. Pray that we do not make unholy alliances. Pray that Christ Followers will not make agreements with individuals who clearly have evil ulterior motives.
Pray that those who are manifesting unholy/ungodly behavior will repent. Pray that they will get right with God. Pray if they have goals, motives that are harmful to others they will be exposed and removed from realms of leadership or influence if they do not repent.
Stand in the Gap
As a ministry Stand in the Gap will not make any unholy/ungodly alliances with any individual or organization. At the same time we will not stop 'controversial persons' from joining with us for prayer. We will trust that they have a sincere desire to join with us in prayer. We hope all local leaders and others will join with us to pray for individuals, Fairfield Bay, and America. It is up to God to judge their motives. We trust the presence of the Lord during our prayer times will cause individuals that are not sincere to not come back.
