STANDING IN THE GAP
Standing in the Gap is the Intercessory Prayer Outreach of Creating Futures that was founded by Preacher Richard Dover and his wife Carmi. They have over 60 years of combined ministry experience.
Standing in the Gap is focused on Intercessory Prayer for Fairfield Bay, AR, but not just Fairfield Bay. Our nation certainly needs prayer and there are many individuals who need the move of God in their life. There needs to be Repentance, Reformation, Renewal, and Revival.
WHY STANDING IN THE GAP
It is a long story of How and Why Standing in the Gap was started. It certainly was not the intention of Rich & Carmi to do ministry in Fairfield Bay since they live in the Cherokee Park area, outside of Greers Ferry and were already doing ministry in Greers Ferry.
Worship & Prayer Tuesday Nights in Greers Ferry
Rich and Carmi, along with others were meeting on Tuesday nights to have a time of community Worship & Prayer. This had been going on for about one year. Due to various circumstances Rich & Carmi felt it was time to move on, even though they had started the group.
Indian Rock Village (The Springs) Retirement Center
Rich & Carmi were asking the Lord "What is Next?" They felt led they were to continue to have community and prayer but in a different venue. It was suggested that they see if IRV would let them use the facility library for worship. The goal was to have 'outsiders' to come for community worship in Fairfield Bay using IRV Library for the venue. Instead, it was clear that the Lord was opening up the doors for us to minister to the residents of IRV. So, we have worship and prayer on Tuesday nights 6pm-6:45pm for the residents, but general public is invited.
The Start of Standing in the Gap
Fairfield Bay and Drama
For about two years Rich was aware there was some drama in FFB. He was paying more attention to it because his son who has some disabilities bought a house in FFB. Since Rich & Carmi was doing some ministry in FFB, they felt they should learn more about the community. They started talking to residents in the area and reviewing the various FFB Facebook groups. They Were Shocked!!!!
SHOCKED!!!!
Rich & Carmi were totally shocked by all that was taking place in Fairfield Bay. There was all kinds of complaining, division, unholy alliances, hatred. It was clear there was unforgiveness and vindictiveness. They started watching some videos from various community meetings. They were shocked to see so much ungodly attitudes and behavior, especially from those claiming to be Christians. It broke their heart.
Microcosm
It became clear to Rich & Carmi that Fairfield Bay is a microcosm of what is going on in America. Blatant hatred, name calling, mocking, poisonous words, self-righteousness, pride, narcissism, divisiveness, all character traits of Satan and very destructive. They have always said the only hope for America is Intercessory Prayer-Faithful Followers of Christ praying for America-Standing in the Gap to hopefully hold off the full judgment of God.

I searched for a man among them who would build up a wall and stand in
the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I
found no one.
There is a great need for Repentance, Reformation, Renewal, Revival!
Standing in the Gap for Fairfield Bay-Intercessory Prayer
Rich & Carmi decided to start having community prayer for Fairfield Bay every Saturday at 6:30pm. Since they were already using IRV Library they started having prayer at that location. Almost immediately there became some FFB Drama. Someone was not happy with one of the people that was coming to pray with Rich & Carmi. It became evident of how much there is a need for Prayer for Fairfield Bay. Then a person told Rich & Carmi that they had been praying for someone to come into Fairfield Bay that a burden for community prayer.
Standing in the Gap Ministry Location
It became clear that the best option for Standing in the Gap was to have its own ministry building. A place where ALL Are Welcomed to Pray and Worship regardless if they are leaders in City Government, Fairfield Bay Community Club, Business Owners, live outside of Fairfield Bay, etc.
Ministry
Rich & Carmi do not want to be limited to a specific day or time. In fact, their ultimate goal is to have Prayer and Worship as often as possible. Not just for Fairfield Bay but for America and for individuals. It is also their goal to provide teaching and ministry to help those who need their lives transformed. Much of the issues in Fairfield Bay and America is because of individuals who need their lives to be transformed, including many Christians. Like one pastor recently told Rich, "Many, especially in the Bible Belt have had a 'Jesus inoculation' but never been discipled. Those who grow in Christ manifest the character of Christ.
